Botox brow lift: for whom?
The procedure can be performed on someone over 18 after a careful initial consultation. The treatment can be carried out by a doctor or dentist, or, in a healthcare setting, by a nurse who has been trained and licensed.
Brow lift with botulinum toxin may be suitable for you if
- you have fine or medium deep lines on your upper face but not a large amount of excess skin
- you want a temporary result
Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers are not treated.
Botulinum treatment or surgical lifting?
Botulinum treatment is a good solution if the criteria for the procedure are
- Speed - both the operation and recovery take only minutes
- Painlessness - the pain associated with botox injections is comparable to mosquito bites
- Provisional outcome
- A fresher, more youthful appearance - the results are natural
- Non-surgical - no risks and side effects associated with surgery and anaesthesia
- Safety - compared to surgery, the treatment is much safer
There are also situations where surgery is a significantly more sensible option than botulinum treatments.
Botox brow lift: what is the result?
The biggest advantage of a Botox brow lift is that it enhances the features without creating an unnatural look. When done correctly, the result is subtle, refined, and effortlessly elegant.
Small and subtle changes can achieve good results. You don't even have to worry about collapsing eyebrows when you know your anatomy," says Emilia Sundqvist.
Another advantage often cited is the temporary nature of the outcome. Before the first treatment, the client may be nervous about what will happen. If the result does not feel like the same, nothing irreversible has happened. The visible results of botulinum toxin treatment will disappear within a few months, and after a year all invisible muscle activity will have returned.
Botox brow lift: how?
Brow lift with botulinum injections is a simple and quick procedure. The injection takes only a few minutes. Often the most time is spent in the consultation.
For the first treatment, you should allow half an hour. Once the results are maintained and your trusted doctor has already found the right dose of botulinum and injection technique for you, the treatment will take 10-15 minutes.
Does the treatment hurt?
The pain associated with stabbing is very slight. Of course, pain sensations are also individual to each person. If you are nervous about the pain, it is worth mentioning it when you book your appointment. The use of an anaesthetic cream is possible.
If you want a cream anaesthetic, there are two ways to proceed:
- Come 45 minutes before your appointment time and we'll apply the anaesthetic cream to the treatment area, giving it time to take effect before the injection.
- Get Emla cream from the pharmacy and apply it to the area you want to treat yourself, for example an hour before your appointment. (You do not need a prescription for Emla.)
I have heard from customers that the procedure is less painful and faster than they thought. (Emilia Sundqvist)
How much botulinum is injected?
Each client's eyebrows are raised using a slightly different technique.
In many cases, the best results are obtained by treating at least two areas. Sometimes the best result is achieved by treating three areas, says Emilia Sundqvist, MD.
Everyone's facial features are different, and browlifting requires not only a solid knowledge of anatomy, but also an aesthetic eye and a smooth injection technique.
We are all individuals, and so the effect is slightly different for each of us.
- Treating one area may be enough if the client is young and the aesthetic problem is very small.
- Sometimes, botulinum treatment of two areas gives good results.
- If age spots are visible, be prepared for Botox treatment in three areas. This allows a large enough zone to be treated for a beautiful and natural result.
- On average, more botulinum toxin is needed to lift men's eyebrows than women's.
There is no point in comparing the course of treatment or the dosage of botulinum. Facial features and muscle activity are individual. Botulinum treatment to raise the eyebrows is also individualised.

What is botox?
Botox, or botulinum toxin, is a muscle-relaxing prescription medicine used to treat aesthetic and health problems. The most well-known aesthetic indications for Botox are forehead and eyebrow wrinkle corrections and treatments for moderate results on the lower face, e.g. botox lip flip. Today, botulinum is mainly used to treat excessive sweating, teeth grinding and migraines.
Botulinum treatment is no longer very new. The mechanisms of action of the drug were first discovered by Californian ophthalmologist Alan B. Scott, who first used botulinum toxin to successfully treat his patients with strabismus in the 1970s. In aesthetic medicine, botulinum has been used with good success since the 1980s. Many aesthetic treatments have come and gone over the decades, with botulinum treatment becoming a classic.
Botulinum treatment is done with type A botulinum, which reduces muscle activity for 3-12 months. The reduction in muscle activity is reflected, among other things, in the smoothing of fine lines and, in the case of forehead lifting, in a slight elevation of the features.
Botox injections work by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the nerve endings. The effect is always temporary and the nerve endings gradually recover over the months following treatment. The zone will be back to its original state after about a year of botulinum surgery. The most visible results of the treatment will have disappeared before then.
Botulinum toxin treatments are becoming increasingly common. One visits a hairdresser regularly, another maintains structural nails and a third has botulinum treatments. (Emilia Sundqvist, MD)
How quickly does botulinum toxin take effect?
The result of the treatment will gradually become apparent over the days following the treatment. Some studies have shown that the results of botulinum toxin preparations such as Dysport and Azzalure appear a few days earlier than Botox and Vistabel.
Whatever the brand name of the botulinum product, results can only be assessed after two weeks of treatment.
You can book a free check-up 2-4 weeks after your Botox treatment. The same doctor or nurse who performed the procedure will book the appointment. At the follow-up visit, botulinum toxin can be added to the treated area free of charge if there is no more than four weeks between the follow-up visit and the initial treatment.
The result of treatment disappears in the same way as it comes: gradually. In general, the result of browlifting remains good for three to six months. For some clients, the results last longer after three or more treatments. It is not uncommon to enjoy the results of botulinum treatment for up to six months.
