Aftercare instructions
Botox
- Carefully follow all the advice given to you by your carer.
- If you feel there is a conflict between these recommendations and the written instructions you receive, follow the written instructions.
- The bumps and redness that form at the injection sites will go down on the day of treatment. Bruising is rare but possible. They may take a week or two to subside.
- Keep the treated zone intact, do not press or rub it for the first few days.
- You can return to your normal make-up and skincare routine the day after the treatment.
- Avoid lying down immediately after treatment. Maintain a sitting or standing position for 4-6 hours after the procedure.
- On the first night, replace the pillowcase with a clean one.
- Do not engage in intense physical activity for the first few days after botulinum toxin treatment.
- Avoid drinking alcohol and taking blood thinners or blood-clotting supplements for 48 hours after the procedure. However, do not interrupt any prescription medication without your doctor's approval.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 48 hours.
- Did you smoke? Try to go without tobacco products for at least two days.
- If you have received any further instructions on aftercare, follow them carefully.
- Wait patiently, as the full effect of botulinum toxin is typically felt two weeks after the procedure.
- If you want to ensure that the results of your treatment are permanent, book your follow-up visits well in advance. The effects of treatment usually last from several months to six months.

Dermal fillers
Redness, swelling, scarring, mild pain, itching, tingling and bruising may occur in the treated area after the filler treatment. If you have suffered from cold sores in the past, you may experience a recurrence after the filler treatment. All of these symptoms are normal after-effects and will resolve on their own in the days following treatment.
- The swelling can be relieved in the first few days by applying cold to the treated area. Wrap the cold pack in a cloth and hold it gently on the treatment area for 15 minutes at a time, 4-8 times a day. Do not apply pressure. Be careful not to burn the skin.
- If necessary, you can also take an allergy medicine (cetirizine), available without a prescription from a pharmacy, to relieve the tingling and swelling.
Immediately after filler treatment:
- Avoid touching the treated area for 8 hours. Make-up can be applied and face washes are allowed the day after the treatment. Otherwise, the face may be treated as normal, but with gentle care and products. It is advisable to change the pillowcase for a clean one.
- Other aesthetic treatments (e.g. chemical peels, botulinum and filler treatments, IPL and laser treatments) can be performed in the area after two days at the earliest.
Treatment for the following week:
- Do not expose the treatment area to extreme temperatures (sauna, sunshine, solarium, frost) until the after-effects have disappeared. Also avoid swimming, sweating and other forms of perspiration for three days.
- During the first five days, the treated zones should not be exfoliated mechanically or with AHA/BHA products. A five-day break should also be taken with skin care products containing alcohol. All strong exfoliation should be avoided for four weeks. Benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone and retinoids (e.g. retinol and tretinoin) should also be avoided.
- Massage and pressure on the treatment area should be avoided for at least one week, preferably longer.

Dissolving fillers
- Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. In many cases, the results of treatment are visible within hours of treatment.
- Redness, tenderness of the injection sites, swelling (especially of the lips) and bruising are common side effects.
- On the first night, replace the pillowcase with a clean one.
- Swelling and bruising may increase in the days following treatment.
- If you want, you can treat the swelling with cold. Always wrap the cold pack in paper or cloth. Keep the cold in the treatment area for up to 15 minutes at a time.
- In the first few days, the treated area may also lose some of the body's own hyaluronic acid. This is almost always corrected within weeks of treatment.
- The degradation of the hyaluronic acid in the filler is permanent.
- Contact your nurse if the redness, soreness, itching or swelling gets worse after the third day.
- The combined effect of swelling and hyaluronidase may initially appear as asymmetry in the treatment area. Malta waits two weeks for the result to develop.
- DO NOT rub, press or apply pressure to the treated area to prevent the hyaluronidase injected into the tissue from spreading to unwanted areas.
- When cleansing your face or applying make-up, use gentle, sweeping strokes.
- Wait 12 hours before applying make-up to the treatment area.
- Avoid heavy exercise for the next 24 hours. Other normal activities can start immediately.
- Avoid facial massage, microneedling, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, radiofrequency treatments and anti-age products for 14 days after the treatment.
- You can treat pain and tingling with paracetamol if necessary. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen as they can increase bruising.
- Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 12 hours, as alcohol can contribute to bruising and/or swelling.
- Avoid exposure to UV radiation until the redness/swelling has subsided.
If you experience shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the tongue, eyelids, lips, hoarseness of voice, stomach pain, nausea or diarrhoea, go to the nearest emergency room immediately or call 112.
Cog thread lift
- Redness, swelling, bruising and stinging may occur in the treated area after the treatment.
- There may also be mild to moderate pain. These symptoms are normal after-effects and will resolve spontaneously within days of treatment.
- Avoid touching the treated area for 8 hours.
- 24 hours after the treatment, you can start treating your face as usual, but with a gentler touch and products than normal.
- You can wash your face and apply make-up the day after the treatment.
- Avoid facial massage for at least four weeks.
- Avoid strong exfoliants and retinoid products for four weeks.
- Skin adhesives can be removed 24-48 hours after treatment.
- On the first night, replace the pillowcase with a clean one.
- For the first 2-7 nights, sleep on your back with your head elevated if possible.
- Avoid alcohol and tobacco products during the first week.
- Avoid excessive panting and hard bites (e.g. carrots, crispbread) for two weeks.
- Avoid sweating, saunas, tanning beds and direct sunlight for two weeks.
- After-effects can be relieved at home by applying cold to the treated area for 20 minutes. Be careful not to burn your skin.
- Painkillers (paracetamol) can also be taken if necessary, for example before going to bed.
- The use of NSAIDs is not recommended on a daily basis. NSAIDs may worsen the final results.
- If necessary, you can also take an allergy medicine (cetirizine), available without a prescription from a pharmacist, to relieve the tingling or swelling.
- The final result is usually only visible after 6-12 weeks of treatment. After that, when all symptoms have subsided, you can take other treatments or have a facial massage, for example.
- To maintain the results, a retreatment is recommended, for example after one year. If you have any questions about the treatment, please contact the treatment provider.
Skin boosters and collagen stimulators
- After the injection treatment, redness, swelling, scarring, mild pain, itching, tingling and bruising may occur in the treated area.
- If you have suffered from cold sores in the past, the injection treatment may cause it to break out again.
- All the symptoms described above are normal after-effects. They will resolve on their own in the days following treatment.

Microneedling
- After microneedling, the treated area may experience redness, swelling, scarring, mild pain, itching, tingling and bruising. These are normal and normal symptoms and are signs of intense skin regeneration.
- First 24 hours: use only aftercare products provided by a professional!
- During the first 24 hours, your skin loses more moisture than usual. During the first 24 hours, add Lift Cream as needed. Lift effectively moisturises the skin.
- As you cannot wear sunscreen for the first 24 hours, avoid all sun exposure for the first 24 hours.
The first three days:
- Use a professional Rescue cream to moisturise and soothe the treated skin.
- After 2-3 days of treatment, you can return to your normal skincare routine.
- After the first 24 hours, you can wear sunscreen and stay in sunny places.
- Take special care to protect your skin (SPF 50). Avoid direct sunlight for a week.
- Avoid sweating, sweaty exercise and all intense physical exertion for three days. Do not sunbathe. Do not use a sunbed.
- Use mild skin care products during the first week. Avoid skin brightening and anti-ageing products (e.g. vitamin C, retinol and other retinoids, fruit acid products, salicylic acid products).
