Filler treatments fade the signs of ageing and highlight and shape individual facial features. Fillers can be used to restore the fullness and freshness lost with age.
Treatment can also be focused on specific areas, such as the lips, cheeks, nose, chin, individual lines, or the periorbital region. Many clients seek a refreshed, more radiant appearance or desire added volume to the lips.
It takes between 15 minutes and an hour to perform the filler treatment. Either a traditional needle or a blunt cannula needle is used.
Most filler treatments are performed by injecting the skin with a synthetic, non-animal hyaluronic acid gel that is almost identical to the body's own hyaluronic acid.
We also use Allergan's Harmonyca hybrid filler, which contains calcium hydroxylapatite in addition to hyaluronic acid. The Harmonyca filler treatment is ideal for firming sagging skin of the mid and lower face and for subtly lifting the features. Sometimes the best results are obtained by combining Harmonyca and Juvéderm treatments.
More than 90% of all filler treatments are performed using hyaluronic acid gels. There is a diverse selection of hyaluronic acid gels available on the market, each designed for different filler treatments.
Ebeling Beauty uses the FDA-approved Restylane and Juvéderm. The FDA is the US Food and Drug Administration and FDA approval is not relevant per se when placing fillers on the European market. However, since FDA approval requires much more from fillers than the CE marking required in Europe, many consumers - and especially professionals - will appreciate FDA approval. An FDA-approved hyaluronic acid product has decades of research, product development and use behind it.
Restylane fillers have been on the market for over 25 years. Research and development work has been going on for even longer. More than 80 million Restylane treatments have been performed.
Juvéderm fillers have been used since 2006 and have been studied for even longer. More than 100 million Juvéderm treatments have been performed worldwide.
A successful filler treatment is one where the results are clear but the facial features still look naturally beautiful. Depending on the target area and the desired result, 0.5-8 ml of Juvéderm or Restylane hyaluronic acid gel can be used, sometimes more.
The result of the filler treatment is visible immediately after the treatment. Immediately after the treatment, the skin may show redness, swelling, sometimes bruising. The swelling may be severe in the first few days, especially on the lips. Therefore, the outcome of the treatment can only be reliably assessed two weeks after the procedure, when the swelling and other side effects have disappeared.
The end result of a filler treatment is always temporary. Treatment results last from a few months up to two years. The results will gradually and progressively fade over the months following treatment.
Cheek fillers shape and lift the midface. Cheek filler treatments can be used to achieve either a contour or lifting effect. A contour treatment highlights and accentuates the shape of the naturally flat cheekbone. A lifting treatment lifts cheeks that have sagged with age and lifts the contours of the entire midface. For cheek augmentation, at least one millilitre of Juvéderm or Restylane hyaluronic acid gel is used, often more.
Fillers can also be used to correct tear througs running from the inner corner of the eye towards the cheek and lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth. However, instead of individual lines, the treatments focus on the balance of the final result, the face as a whole.
The most popular treatments for upper face are tear trough fillers and temporal filler. In particular, filler treatments for high-risk areas (temple, forehead or nose shaping) should be carried out by an experienced aesthetic medical professional.
Lip filler treatments are very popular injection treatments. These involve the injection of a hyaluronic acid filler into the lips, resulting in fuller and more symmetrical lips. In a lip filler treatment, no more than one millilitre of filler is injected into the lips at a time. This ensures that the result remains elegantly natural and balanced, without causing tissue damage or other permanent damage to the lips.
If the client is looking for a major reshaping, the new size and shape of the lips is built up through a series of complementary filler treatments over the course of a year. The gradual change requires perseverance on the part of the client, but on the other hand, it achieves an elegant, naturally full and long-lasting result.

Filler treatments are also suitable for shaping and lifting the lower face and correcting aesthetic flaws in the jawline. In chin filler treatments, good results can be achieved with as little as one millilitre. Several millilitres of filler can be used to lift and shape the lower face.
Preparing for treatment as instructed is important to ensure a satisfactory outcome and a quick and easy recovery from treatment.
There are always some degree of side effects associated with filler treatments, which should be taken into account when planning the procedure. There are individual differences in the extent and duration of side effects. Especially after lip filler treatment, swelling and other symptoms can be visible, which is why many people come for treatment just before holidays or vacations.
Normal side effects during the first few weeks:
Swelling is normal:
One syringe of Juvéderm or Restylane filler contains 0.55-1 ml of hyaluronic acid gel. This is a suitable amount for filling areas such as the tip of the chin, nose or lips, but in other areas more than one millilitre is often needed. The amount of filler needed is calculated by assessing the following factors:
Small treatment areas, such as the nose, lips or the tip of the chin, usually require less filler than other areas. On the other hand, patients who want extensive changes will definitely need more than just 1-2 millilitres of filler.
Different hyaluronic acid fillers are suitable for different treatment areas. The more rigid and solid the filler, the less filler is needed to create a visible and long-lasting result. On the other hand, rigid fillers are not suitable for all areas. For example, a filler for lips needs to be very soft and flexible to achieve a natural result.
Some patients want subtle and natural-looking results, while others want dramatic changes to their facial features. The more radical the change, the more filler is usually needed.
During the consultation, it is also useful to discuss how much money the patient has available. Large treatment packages cost more than small ones. Large comprehensive treatments are often carried out over a year or two years, spreading the costs over a long period. In some cases, different financing options, such as Ebeling-Terveystili contributions, may also be available.
For a single lip filler treatment, 0.55-1 millilitre of hyaluronic acid gel is used. If the size or shape of the lips is significantly altered, this is called lip augmentation. In this situation, treatments are carried out more frequently than normal over a period of 1-2 years, for example every three months. Even then, no more than one syringe, or one millilitre, of filler is injected into the lips in a single treatment session. Once the desired shape or size has been achieved, one treatment with one millilitre of filler per year is often sufficient to maintain the result.
For cheek filler treatments, at least two millilitres of hyaluronic acid gel, or two syringes, are almost always needed. The amount needed depends on how much fullness of the cheeks is to be increased and how far advanced the ageing changes are. In some situations, up to six millilitres of filler may be used. This amount can be used to plump up the entire appearance of the midface, thus also lifting and smoothing the nasolabial folds from the nose to the corners of the mouth.
If the filler treatment is applied to a young person who has not yet experienced any age-related changes to the face, one syringe (1 ml) may be enough to lightly highlight the cheekbones (the so-called contour effect).
Nasolabial folds are the result of expressivity. They start at the nose and run down towards the corners of the mouth. In most cases, nasolabial folds are faded by cheek filler treatment. By doing so, the lightness and linearity of the lower cheeks are preserved, while fullness is rather increased in the middle cheeks. If the nasolabial folds are not caused by the sagging of the cheeks but by a loss of fullness specifically in the nasolabial area, a 1-2 ml filler treatment can also be applied directly to the nasolabial folds.
One syringe, or one millilitre, is almost always enough for a jawbone. The jawline usually requires about 2-4 syringes of filler.
There are risks associated with all filler treatments. The main risk is the risk of the filler entering the bloodstream. Particular areas of risk in terms of blood circulation include the frown lines, the nose and the temples. Only surgeon Ville Männistö performs filler treatments in these areas at Ebeling Beauty.
For onion and nasal filler treatments, Restylane or Juvéderm is almost always used up to one millilitre. One syringe (1 ml) is also usually sufficient for filling the temporal lobes. Sometimes, however, two millilitres can be used for this area.
Full-face filler treatment is a procedure where almost all parts of the face are treated with a filler. Such a treatment usually requires 4-10 millilitres of filler. This amount is distributed over the different treatment areas: cheeks, tip of the chin, jawline, nose, temples, individual lines. It is also typical that full-face treatment is not carried out in a single visit, but is carried out over a period of, for example, a year: the middle face is treated in the first visit, the lower face in the next, and so on. In addition, full-face fillers are often combined with botulinum treatments, in which case the treatment can be called a liquid facelift.
Full-face filler treatments are most common in people over 45 years of age, whose faces are already showing the signs of ageing: the separation of the underlying fat deposits is visible in the form of sagging features, furrows and bags. In practice, a full-face filler treatment for a middle-aged person adds fullness and volume to areas where subcutaneous fat has been lost.
Sometimes, full-face fillers can also be performed on a young person in a situation where you want to change facial features, correct asymmetry or add femininity or masculinity to the features.
The amount of filler used in full-face treatments varies. The starting points, objectives and available budget are different for each patient.
Harmonyca is Allergan's hybrid product, which is injected into ageing skin with a cannula needle. During the treatment, 2.5 ml of a filler containing hyaluronic acid and calcium hydoxapatite is injected into the skin. Harmonyca is ideal for firming and moderately lifting sagging skin of the mid and lower face.
The result created by the product is immediate but also long-lasting. Hyaluronic acid lifts, fills and shapes instantly. Calcium particles stimulate and build up the skin for long-lasting results.
Harmonyca is a filler and biostimulant, which means it stimulates the skin to regenerate and rebuild from within. Immediately after the treatment, the cross-linked hyaluronic acid in the product lifts the skin and fills the lines. Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa / calcium hydroxyapatite), on the other hand, stimulates the fibroblast cells of the dermis to produce new collagen. The effect of collagen stimulation only becomes apparent in the weeks following treatment, as the collagen produced firms, renews and plumps the skin from the inside out.
In addition to hyaluronic acid and calcium particles, Harmonyca contains a small amount of lidocaine. Lidocaine is an anaesthetic that makes the treatment almost painless. The first injection is slightly numbing, but after the first injection, the treated zone is numbed and subsequent injections will therefore no longer hurt.
Harmonyca is ideal for clients whose face is showing the signs of ageing, not only in the form of fine lines and wrinkles, but also in the form of sagging features, sagging tissue and loss of fullness. Incipient hamster bags are one of the most typical treatment indications.
If you are looking for an aesthetic treatment with immediate and long-lasting results, Harmonyca may be the right choice for you.
Harmonyca combines the benefits of calcium derivatives and hyaluronic acid gels.
Harmonyca is Allergan's dual action hybrid filler. It combines the advantages of traditional hyaluronic acid fillers and calcium particle fillers.
It is an excellent option for customers who already have a lot of age-related changes on their face. Middle and lower age-related changes respond particularly well to the treatment.
Often, Harmonyca treatment is part of a comprehensive treatment, where one part of the face can be treated with botulinum toxin, another part with hyaluronic acid-based fillers, and a third part with Harmonyca.
No treatment is done on the neck or lips.
Harmonyca cannot treat
The treatment is performed fairly superficially in the skin with a blunt cannula needle. The cannula technique and the lidocaine in the product make the treatment almost painless.
After the treatment, the skin becomes red. Swelling, itching, tingling and pain are typical and normal side effects. Bruising is rare, although it is possible.
