The field of aesthetic treatments is constantly evolving: new products, new treatment protocols, and new devices are constantly emerging in the industry. Beauty ideals are in a state of constant flux, and for this reason, the field of aesthetic treatments changes both on an annual basis and seasonally.

However, certain ideals still hold true:

Various new innovations in Finland and elsewhere in Europe often come from the United States and South Korea. This does not mean that Europe lacks the know-how: for example, the hugely popular Profhilo is an Italian innovation, while Cellboosters come from Switzerland. Product development is guided by clinical studies, with patient safety as the top priority—for example, not all botulinum toxin brands have been approved in Europe, even though they are used in countries such as South Korea and China.

After a sunny summer

For most of us, fall means a return to everyday life after the summer vacations. The summer of 2026 treated Finns to good weather, and many have spent a lot of time outdoors in the sunshine. The sun causes various types of damage to the skin and also limits certain aesthetic procedures to some extent: for example, after microneedling, you must actively protect yourself from the sun and avoid direct sunlight, even if you’re using the right SPF. For many people, the arrival of fall—with its decrease in sunlight and the shift to spending more time indoors—marks the start of a series of microneedling treatments or follow-up visits. The same applies to laser treatments. Even though treatments such as the Hollywood Laser Peel or Carbon Peel performed with the Hollywood Spectra are gentle on the skin, you still need to be careful about UV exposure afterward. Especially in late fall, you can undergo these treatments with greater peace of mind. 

The modern Hydrafacial treatment is especially gentle on sun-dried skin. During a Hydrafacial, the facial skin is thoroughly cleansed, after which various moisturizing and skin-protecting active ingredients are infused into the skin. The Hydrafacial “vacuum” removes air pollutants, sebum, and sunscreen residue. If you notice small blemishes or fine lines appearing on your skin during the summer as it dries out, getting a Hydrafacial is definitely a good idea. The Hollywood Laser Peel can help if, despite careful protection, the sun has caused various pigment changes on your face. The Laser Peel exfoliates and renews the skin, thereby evening out your skin tone. You’ll get the best results from a series of treatments. The Hollywood Laser Peel is also a great solution if your skin feels dull. A carbon solution applied to the skin is removed using a laser, and along with the carbon, both impurities and dead skin cells are removed from the skin. The end result is smooth and radiant skin. 

If your face needs deep hydration, Profhilo is the right choice. Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid in two different molecular sizes, and its ability to bind moisture is what makes the treatment so effective. During a Profhilo treatment, a total of ten injections are administered to the face—five on each side. Once injected into the skin, Profhilo spreads beneath the skin, providing effective, long-lasting hydration. The results of a two-session Profhilo treatment last for 6–12 months—in the best-case scenario, until the following fall.

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) Therapy

PRF therapy is also known by a rather unusual name: vampire therapy. The treatment earned this nickname from its treatment protocol. The treatment is performed using the patient’s own plasma. At the start of the treatment, a single test tube’s worth of blood is drawn from the patient, which is then processed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the platelet-rich plasma, and the plasma concentrate is injected into the patient’s skin. In that sense, PRF is a natural treatment, as it does not involve the use of any synthetic substances. The treatment first gained worldwide attention in 2013 as PRP, when Kim Kardashian posted a selfie and revealed she was undergoing a “vampire facial.”

The effectiveness of plasma is based on the growth factors it contains. These growth factors form a fibrin network beneath the skin and stimulate the skin’s own production of collagen and elastin over the long term. The treatment rejuvenates the skin at the cellular level. PRF is a so-called second-generation blood plasma treatment, as it is a further development of PRP therapy. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) differs from PRF in that PRP does not form a fibrin network in the skin that would slowly release the plasma’s growth factors. In PRP therapy, growth factors are released all at once. PRF is therefore better suited, for example, for the thin skin around the eyes: the fibrin network thickens the skin around the eyes and thus also brightens the skin tone. 

There are many different indications for PRF therapy, and the treatment can be administered either as injections or in conjunction with microneedling.

Sculptra

Many Finnish clinics have been using Sculptra, an effective injectable treatment for aging skin, for years. Sculptra was developed in the United States in 1999, and its history is similar to that of many other substances and treatment protocols used in aesthetic medicine: Sculptra was developed with traditional medicine in mind (such as botulinum toxin). Sculptra has been used to restore volume to the faces of patients whose appearance has become “hollow” due to a medical condition. In particular, Sculptra has been used in patients with HIV. 

It was later discovered that Sculptra is also highly effective in treating age-related facial volume loss, and as a result, the product became part of aesthetic treatments. As we age, collagen production slows down, and the face loses its natural volume and the skin loses its elasticity. With Sculptra, the face can regain its natural roundness without losing all of its natural contours. Sculptra restores volume without the dreaded "pillow face" effect. Sculptra does not fill the face, but rather activates the skin’s own regeneration and collagen production. The results last up to two years! In the United States, Sculptra is extremely popular, and Elle magazine named it the best facial biostimulator in June 2026.

Radiesse

Radiesse is a dermal filler treatment developed in the United States that restores volume lost with age and stimulates the skin’s own collagen production. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite bound to a gel-like carrier. An immediate effect on facial volume is noticeable after the treatment, but the results improve over time as the calcium hydroxylapatite works to enhance the skin’s structure and elasticity. 

This treatment is best suited for skin that is already visibly aging: sagging faces with noticeable fine lines and “hollowness” in the facial features. In addition to the face, the treatment can be applied to areas such as the neck or the backs of the hands—both of which are areas that may be overlooked when addressing signs of aging.

Radiesse is specifically a treatment that adds new volume, and *Elle* magazine in the United States named it the best in its category in the summer of 2026. Results begin to appear about a week after the treatment and continue to improve over the course of a few weeks. There’s no need to schedule a follow-up appointment right away at the clinic, as the results last for up to 12–18 months.

Classics

Botulinum toxin

Although many new developments emerge in the field of aesthetic treatments every year, tried-and-true methods continue to hold their ground. We predict that botulinum toxin treatments will remain the most popular treatment option for both superficial lines and deeper wrinkles. People who are considering aesthetic treatments and undergo them regularly are becoming more informed consumers year after year, and the safety and effectiveness of botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox) are well-established. Botulinum toxin is the most extensively studied substance used in aesthetic treatments, and research into it continues. The latest innovation is Boey, a trenibotulinumtoxin E product approved in Europe and Canada in the summer of 2026, which takes effect within eight hours and whose effects last for two to three weeks. This product is the first (and only) botulinum toxin to work in this way—the substances currently in use take effect within a few days and last for four to six months. We look forward to seeing how Allergan’s Boey finds its niche and customer base! There is certainly a demand for a short-acting botulinum toxin, for example, among hesitant first-time users or those undergoing training in botulinum toxin injections.

Dermal fillers

Although the peak in popularity of facial—and especially lip—filler treatments seems to be behind us, these services still have their clientele. Over the past couple of years, lip filler treatments have found a new customer base: women who have lost volume in their lips as they’ve aged. Just a decade ago, lip filler treatments were sought mainly by women under thirty, and at that time, the desired result was a fairly plump look. Since filler treatments aren’t strictly regulated in Finland, many people had their lips filled with a variety of substances, visited multiple practitioners, and the end result could even be lumpy or uneven. Lip filler treatments have since shifted dramatically in the opposite direction, and fillers are now dissolved using hyaluronidase—including here at Ebeling Beauty. Currently, many of our clients over 40 mainly want to “get their own lips back,” and the results are more subtle than they were just a few years ago.

Patient safety above all else

The year isn’t over yet, but one trend has clearly stood out above all others in Finland: patient safety. Over the course of the year, the authorities have clarified the interpretation of legislation regarding botulinum toxin injections in particular, and this has certainly influenced the day-to-day practices of every clinic that operates responsibly.

The clientele seeking aesthetic treatments is more discerning than ever, and in addition to desiring a variety of results, people want to feel that they are in professional and safe hands. While a decade ago, clinics and treatment centers were popping up left and right, the field has since become less crowded. The risks associated with various procedures are better understood, and precautions are taken even before the treatment begins. Responsible practitioners also inform their clients if the desired outcome is unrealistic or if the requested treatment, for one reason or another, is not suitable for the client. You get much more out of all aesthetic treatments when they are planned on an individual basis. Refusing a treatment is also part of responsible practice, and this is generally well recognized in the industry. For this reason, a thorough consultation—either before the treatment or during a separate appointment—is also at the heart of our practice.
