Beauty Treatments Before the Wedding Day

Beauty Treatments Before the Wedding Day: What Should You Focus On, and What’s the Best Timeline?

Your own wedding is one of the few celebrations in life that you spend months—or even years—preparing for. Photos of the bride and groom are preserved on the bookshelves of parents and grandparents for up to a decade, and changes in wedding trends as well as advances in camera resolution are easily noticeable if photos from different decades are gathered on the same shelf.

Changing beauty ideals and trends influence the kinds of appearance-related preparations a wedding couple makes before their big day. As recently as the 1980s and 1990s, a trip to the tanning salon was part of many brides’ and grooms’ wedding preparations. Today, protecting the skin from UV radiation is known to be the best way to prevent signs of aging, and visits to tanning salons have declined dramatically. Similarly, the “helmet” perm has also faded into the mists of history…

However, radiant, healthy skin and a well-rested appearance were presumably just as important a part of the wedding look in the last millennium as they are today. The cornerstones of skincare start with a good at-home routine, but various professional treatments add the finishing touches to the wedding look.

“I want to show who I am, but at my best”

Aesthetic treatments to be performed before the wedding day are carefully planned together with the client. Almost everyone wants to look like themselves on their wedding day, and few people want, for example, injectable treatments whose results would be noticeable to every wedding guest. Aesthetic treatments for the wedding day are subtle and often focus specifically on skincare.

A treatment plan is always tailored to the individual and is influenced by several factors:

  • How long until the wedding?
  • What is the client's budget?
  • What are the customer's wishes and expectations?

Even those who have never had any beauty treatments before come in for pre-wedding aesthetic treatments. Most of our clients are women, but men are also increasingly seeking consultations and becoming clients. The most popular treatment among men is“brotox,” oraesthetic botulinum toxin treatment for men.

Medical Skin Care Before the Wedding

Medical skincare refers to scientifically researched skincare methods that are used in a targeted manner for skincare. This umbrella term encompasses various device-based treatments (HydraFacial, microneedling, laser), product lines used by professionals, and product lines sold to consumers for home use. Medical skincare—whether performed by a professional or at home—is therefore significantly more effective than standard consumer products. At Ebeling Kauneus, you can purchase iSClinical products for home use; these are high-quality and contain pharmaceutical-grade plant-based ingredients.

Hydrafacial

Device-based treatments complement your at-home skincare routine. Hydrafacial is at the cutting edge of facial treatments and is suitable for everyone. The device-assisted cleansing and deep moisturizing of the face give you a gorgeous glow for your wedding day, but you shouldn’t have your first treatment the day before your wedding. That’s because thorough cleansing can initially bring even minor impurities to the surface. However, if you’ve already had several Hydrafacial treatments, you can safely schedule your final appointment for the week of your wedding.

Microneedling

Microneedling effectively rejuvenates and brightens the skin. The thousands of tiny microchannels created by the needle stimulate the skin to produce new collagen and elastin, and the active ingredients absorbed during the treatment can literally penetrate deeper than the surface. Microneedling also reduces fine lines and acne scars, and you’ll get the best results with a series of treatments. The treatment can be repeated monthly, and since results become visible weeks after the procedure, it’s best to schedule microneedling at least four weeks before an important event. At Ebeling, we use the Dermapen and SkinPen.

Hollywood Laser Peel

Laser treatments may sound intense, but our most popular laser treatment, the Hollywood Laser Peel, is completely painless. The only thing intense about it is the results. The Hollywood Laser Peel (also known as the Carbon Peel) is the perfect last-minute treatment if you’re looking for clear, even skin for your wedding day. That’s why this treatment is also known as the Cinderella treatment and the “red carpet treatment,” since it can be done right before a special event. After the Hollywood Laser Peel, you’ll be ready for the red carpet—and the altar!

Laser Peel is also ideal for soothing acne-prone skin, and results can be seen after just one treatment:

Pre-wedding injections: When is the right time?

Injection treatments generally refer to various types of injectable procedures, such as Botox and dermal fillers. If the client wishes, injection treatments can be used to alter facial features: to plump and reshape the lips, lift the cheekbones, and define the jawline. Botox treatments are usually aimed at reducing various expression lines; the best-known of these is probably the “Sibelius”—named after the famous composer—which refers to the vertical lines that form between the eyebrows. Botox can also be used to define the jawline.

Various treatments designed to improve skin condition are also administered via injections: polynucleotides, Profhilo, and Harmonyca. None of these treatments are intended to alter facial features, but rather to improve skin condition and firm the skin. The methods and substances used naturally differ from one another, and the appropriate treatment is determined through a consultation.

A good rule of thumb is to avoid any new injection treatments right during your wedding week. It’s best to schedule your appointments well in advance; for example, Botox takes anywhere from a few days to as long as two weeks before the results are visible. The results of filler treatments are visible right away, but after the procedure, you may experience bruising and swelling—for example, around the lips—which isn’t ideal for wedding photos. It takes a couple of weeks for the final results to fully develop in this case as well.

How do I know which treatment to choose?

Fortunately, you don’t need to know! The best option is always to start with a free consultation. During the consultation, you can discuss your concerns at your own pace with the specialist of your choice. You can tell us about your budget, your schedule, and your specific wishes regarding aesthetic treatment. We’ll explain which treatment we recommend and why. The consultation doesn’t obligate you to anything, and at the end of it, you can go home to think about what you’ve heard or book an appointment directly for the treatment of your choice.
