What about the risks?
All medical procedures, including aesthetic Botox treatments, carry potential risks and side effects. When the treatment is carried out in the office of a surgeon experienced in aesthetic treatments, the risks are minimal.
The following risks and side effects should always be considered before seeking treatment:
- bruising
- swelling of the injection site
- redness at the injection site
- headache
- vertigo
- flu symptoms
- an aesthetically unsatisfactory result
What kind of full-face Botox is right for me?
Each person's treatment protocol (botulinum preparation, number of units needed and injection sites) is tailored to their individual needs and goals. Therefore, the treatment cannot be copied from one person to another. After the first treatment, the follow-up visit is particularly important, as there are many ways to improve the outcome.
With the first treatment - and the first follow-up visit - the individual treatment protocol becomes clearer, and once your individual treatment protocol is clearer, further treatments are quick and simple.
The treatment intervals are also individual. The optimal treatment interval is usually found with two to three re-treatments.
The number of Botox units, injection sites and treatment intervals are patient data that are recorded in the Kanta service. You can track them via Omakanta.
How long will the result last?
The duration of results varies depending on a number of factors:
- metabolism
- the amount of botulinum toxin
- treated area
It is typical that in people who are highly mobile, the results of botulinum treatment disappear more quickly than average. Another typical situation is that the result disappears faster in the lower face than in the upper face. It is also worth remembering that the results of the first botulinum treatment usually remain good for a shorter period of time than the results of repeated treatments. After the third full-face botox treatment, the duration of the treatment result is prolonged for almost everyone treated.
Does the treatment hurt?
Botox injections don't hurt very much. Most people experience only a slight pinching and a feeling of pressure during the injection. The needles used for Botox injections are very small and thin, which helps to minimise pain.
However, full-face treatments involve multiple injections in a very short period of time, which can make the treatment feel a little uncomfortable.
If you have a low pain threshold or are worried about discomfort, you can apply an anesthetic cream to your face 30–60 minutes before the injection. Emla cream, available over the counter at pharmacies, can be applied at home about an hour before the treatment. Anesthetic cream is also available at the clinic. If you prefer to have it applied there, please mention it when booking your appointment so we can schedule enough time for you.
After Botox injections, there may be tenderness or sensitivity at the injection sites. These sensations often disappear within the first hour.
What is Botox?
Botox is the trade name for botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is also sold under other trade names. Besides Botox, other well-known brands include Vistabel, Azzalure, Dysport, Xeomin and Bocouture. In colloquial language, the word 'botox' means any type A botulinum toxin medicine, and in our everyday language, botox treatments are any botulinum treatment, regardless of the brand of botulinum toxin used.
Botulinum toxin - e.g. Botox or Dysport - is a neuromodulator bred for medical use from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In addition to aesthetic problems, botulinum toxin is used to treat migraines, hyperhidrosis, bruxism, overactive bladder and muscle spasms.
