Full-face fillers

The full-face filler treatment plumps up the sagging features and enhances the natural beauty of the face. The procedure is designed individually for each client. The planning and execution of the procedure is based on a thorough and unhurried initial consultation, during which the price of the procedure is also determined.

For full-face filler treatment, several millilitres of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid gel are used. Most often, 4-10 millilitres are used, sometimes more. As the swelling, redness and bruising associated with the recovery phase disappears, the look is naturally fresh, the facial features are clearer and the skin is plump and soft.

Full-face filler treatment refreshes the look

The popularity of filler treatments has increased over the last decade. Most filler treatments are performed on the lips. The filling of nasolabial folds, cheeks or tear troughs is also quite well known. The use of fillers to reshape individual facial features is therefore a familiar oatmeal for Finns. Full-face filler treatments, on the other hand, are still relatively unknown.

In a full-face procedure, the face is examined as a whole. During the treatment, 4-10 millilitres are applied to a variety of treatment areas: cheeks, jawline, chin, nose, temples, sometimes even the forehead. The treatment is not always carried out in a single visit, but in stages, for example over the course of a year: the first treatment is for the midface, the next for the lower face, and so on.

Full-face filler treatment may be complemented by an aesthetic full-face botulinum treatment. This type of procedure is sometimes referred to as a liquid facelift.

Every full-face filler treatment is different

Full-face filler treatment is tailored to each client individually.

Often - but not always - the treatment targets the following areas of the face:

  • lips
  • frown lines
  • temples
  • nose
  • eyebrows
  • Dermal fillers Helsinki Tear through filler
  • jawline
  • Dermal fillers Helsinki
  • cheeks

The goal of the treatment is not to emphasize or reshape individual facial features but to restore lost volume, smooth the skin, and add subtle roundness to areas affected by aging. By distributing the filler evenly across the face, the overall appearance is naturally refreshed without any single area looking distinctly "treated" or altered. Skin quality improves, facial contours become firmer and gently lifted, and the result is a well-rested, rejuvenated look.

The following picture is an example of a typical full-face filler treatment, which can also be carried out gradually (e.g. in the order mid-face - upper face - lower face).

8 point lift supports tissues

Sometimes full-face fillers are applied as an 8 point lift. In this case, for example, three millilitres of Juvéderm fillers of different composition and viscosity can be used.

The main aim of 8-point treatment is to support tissues that become brittle over the years. This brittleness is caused by, among other things, a reduction in bone mass, the erosion of subcutaneous fat deposits and the weakening of ligaments.

Typically, in 8 point lift and other similar procedures, filler is injected in the following locations:

Liquid facelift - botox and filler treatments in one

Liquid facelift combines the benefits of full-face Botox and full-face filler treatment. This combination treatment is often started with a full Botox treatment, which is enhanced and complemented by a filler treatment.

The treatment can be used to

  • fades and smoothes wrinkles, lines and scars
  • add fullness lost with age to the temples and under-eye area, cheeks and lips, in front of the ears and even the earlobes
  • soften age-related changes in the lower face, including jowls and marionette lines.
  • accentuates the jawline and chin angle

A liquid facelift can be done in a single appointment or gradually over, for example, six months.

There are risks associated with full face filler treatment...

All filler treatments come with certain risks. Contrary to popular belief, fillers actually carry more risks than the often-misunderstood Botox treatments. To minimize complications, it is recommended that extensive filler procedures be performed by a doctor or surgeon. Extra caution is needed when treating high-risk areas such as the nose, the area around the nose, the forehead, or the temples. In these cases, choosing an experienced and qualified provider is crucial, as a skilled doctor or surgeon can effectively manage any unexpected complications during the procedure.

Full-face filler treatment is safe when performed with an FDA-approved filler and by a licensed healthcare professional who is prepared to use, if necessary. hyaluronidase - even quickly if necessary.

... and side effects

Full-face filler treatment cannot be considered a lunchtime treatment in the same way as, say, botulinum treatment. Immediately after the procedure, the face is swollen, red and often bruised. Because of the visible side effects, it may be wise to seek a full face filler treatment, for example just before a holiday.

  • Swelling can be severe during the first few days after treatment, especially in the morning.
  • The swelling does not always disappear evenly, which is why the result may look slightly different every day during the first week, often asymmetrically.
  • Pain, tingling and itching are also typical symptoms during the first few days.
  • It is also normal and temporary that the filler injected into the skin feels firm and hard for the first few weeks. Nevertheless, you should not rub or apply pressure to the treated areas yourself.

It takes several weeks to recover and for the side effects to disappear. Full-face filler treatment can be reliably evaluated at the earliest two weeks after the procedure. A follow-up visit should therefore be scheduled 2-4 weeks after the treatment.

Primarily but not exclusively for middle-aged people

Full-face filler treatments are most commonly performed on middle-aged individuals. The typical client is a woman in her 50s, experiencing visible signs of aging, including not only lines and wrinkles but also sagging and loss of facial firmness.

However, aging changes are not the only motivation for undergoing the procedure.

  • In particular, the so-called 8-point lift is also ideal for the effective prevention of age-related changes.
  • Full-face filler treatments can also be used to enhance the femininity or masculinity of the face.
  • In addition, the full-face filler treatment is suitable for young adults who want major changes/symmetry corrections to their facial features.

What about the risks of filler therapy?

All medical procedures, including filler treatments, carry potential risks and side effects. These risks can be minimized by choosing a highly experienced aesthetic professional, preferably in a clinical setting where hyaluronidase is readily available if needed. Before undergoing treatment, it’s important to be aware of the following possible side effects:

  • bruising
  • swelling of the injection site
  • redness at the injection site
  • pain, tingling, itching
  • in the initial phase, the hardness of the treatment area when palpating
  • initial asymmetry

Which full-face treatment is right for me?

Each person’s treatment plan—including the amount of filler, the brand used, and the injection sites—is individually tailored based on their unique facial structure and goals. This means that treatments cannot be simply copied from one person to another. The more extensive the procedure, the more crucial the follow-up visit becomes. A follow-up appointment allows for adjustments and refinements, helping to optimize and enhance the final results.

The first treatment and follow-up visit help establish your personalized full-face treatment plan. Once your individual protocol is defined, future touch-ups become easier to plan and maintain, ensuring consistent and natural-looking results over the years.

How long will the result last?

Treatment with high quality fillers will maintain good results for 6-24 months.

The duration of results varies depending on a number of factors:

  • metabolism
  • filler used
  • treated area

In highly active individuals, the results of filler treatments tend to fade more quickly than average. Similarly, filler in high-movement areas, such as the lips, breaks down faster than in less mobile areas like the temples. The quality and composition of the filler also play a key role—more rigid and cross-linked fillers tend to last longer. For example, Restylane Kysse, designed for lips, breaks down faster than Restylane Lyft, which is formulated for the cheekbones.

Does the treatment hurt?

Filler injections are generally well tolerated, as the fillers we use contain a small amount of the anesthetic lidocaine. Most people describe the sensation as a slight pinching or pressure during the injection rather than significant pain.

However, full-face treatments involve multiple injections in a very short period of time, which can make the treatment feel a little uncomfortable.

If you have a low pain threshold or are worried about discomfort, you can apply an anesthetic cream to your face 30–60 minutes before the injection. Emla cream, available over the counter at pharmacies, can be applied at home about an hour before the treatment. Anesthetic cream is also available at the clinic. If you prefer to have it applied there, please mention it when booking your appointment so we can schedule enough time for you.

Pain, tingling and numbness are normal side effects after filler treatment. Careful adherence to aftercare instructions will help.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Full-face filler treatments involve injecting a synthetic, non-animal hyaluronic acid gel into the skin, which closely resembles the body's natural hyaluronic acid. This powerful substance can absorb up to 1,000 times its own weight in water, meaning the treatment's effectiveness is largely due to hyaluronic acid’s exceptional ability to retain moisture, resulting in hydrated, plump, and youthful-looking skin.
